Erik Wetterling – Acquiring Quality Mining Stocks Into Sector Weakness Before The Sentiment Shifts Back Higher

Erik Wetterling, Founder and Editor of The Hedgeless Horseman website, joins us to discuss why he continues to be aggressively accumulating quality gold and silver stocks into the sector weakness, before the sentiment shifts back higher once again.

He reiterated the value he sees in the Beta mining stocks, with defined ounces in the ground, which offer increasingly attractive risk reward profiles and optionality to the eventual shift to higher prices.  Another point he makes is picking the companies that have already created value in the top tier jurisdictions, that will receive a premium valuation and more interest once the worm turns in the precious metals.  He also goes on to discuss the advantage of positioning in companies that have brought in key strategic stakeholders that have vetted and validated the project, and the types of terms and agreements he likes to see when these partners come into a junior.

Some examples of companies Erik flagged as having solid news and value creation that still haven’t received as much credit as they are due from his perspective are:  Western Alaska Minerals (WAM) (WAMFF), Barsele Minerals (BME) (BRSLF), and Goliath Resources (GOT) (GOTRF).*

*In full disclosure, many of the companies mentioned by Erik, in this interview include personal positions in his portfolio, and they also may be site sponsors on The Hedgeless Horseman website at the time of this recording.    Shad also holds positions in both Goliath Resources at the time of this recording.

THH is probably doing the right thing by buying quality juniors that is more of a sure thing. I have been doing the opposite by buying scandalous amounts of penny juniors at ridiculous prices. If this market turns and gold and silver start migrating, I want risk because the biggest gains will be made in the riskier stocks. When the herd shows up, they won’t be looking for quality they don’t know what quality is, they will be looking for momentum. All of a sudden it will get silly, they only understand cheap. Yesterday I filled my boots with Bayhorse Silver Mining selling for .015. But BHS is just one of the silly stocks I have purchased. This is not investment advice, but this is what I am doing! DT

Brumple likes your idea but Lobo Tiggre and others might not.

Bayhorse Mining… wow, there’s a blast from the past. I’ve not checked in on them lately, but remember at one point they were going to use ore-sorting to get into production… but then got stalled out.

DT, what is cooking with Bayhorse today, and why did you decided to take a speculative punt on them? With some of those stocks down near a few pennies, it is true that they can suddenly rerate up higher going up multiple fold with just a few more pennies added to the shareprice, but were there any reasons in their newsflow that got your attention?

When criminals go down, they like to take everyone with them. I guess that is why they are criminals, and we aren’t. I would prefer they are dealt with as criminals when the they commit the first crime, rather than get to this point. That is where corruption comes in. If someone of authority joins the criminals , then the legal system begins to fail. . It doesn’t mean they are too big to fail as the rhetoric puts forth … but, it means most are too afraid to do their job. A real Catch 22.

      They are sin natured.
They have become corrupt as well… broken trust
