Carney just signed a trade deal with China that allows 49,000 Ev’s to come to Canada tariff free. There goes our auto industry, Trump will retaliate and it won’t be pretty. You know it won’t be long before that number is increased and they won’t announce it either. DT

Good for Canadian consumers now can buy low cost good quality EV instead of Ford pickemup at $100,000

Canadians who are foolish enough to buy them will see all their personal information sent back to China. Not a good trade off. Stub your toe and talk about in the car and they will know, not to mention where you go and for how long. I don’t need the new World order. DT

I’ll have to send Carney a thank you note since one of my rare Chinese stocks is an EV company XPENG which I’ve owned for months. The only other Chinese company I own is DESWELL with a PE of about 4.15. I get a dividend of 10% based on the price I bought it.

      DT.. the 49k EV’s
Is that annually?? Or a one time deal?
      I don’t think Ontario produced 50K EV’s in2025
      Thx.

Hi Ann, I am sure about one thing and that is once you start a government program it is almost impossible to stop it. They are just getting their toe in the door and then as it opens wider nothing will be reported about it on mainstream media. But you will know that it is not a one time deal as the Canadian car assemblers like Honda in Alliston start to shut down. It will kill our auto industry either from Trump raising higher tariffs in retaliation and/or our workforce and unions will not being able to compete. Initially they said there would be a small tariff of 6%. That is a joke! DT

Richard I don’t know about Xpeng stock but their cars are popular here in Guangzhou. We have been considering a mid sized hatchback/CUV made by GWM for 80,000RMB. Nice finish in and out, 400km battery range.
