Here it is cut down to 20 years for more detail. Notice that price went 17% above the channel in December but was pushed back down to close the month just below it. That’s evidence that the channel is technically valid. Also notice how different the action was at the 2011 top. Price touched 130% above the 25 month MA and that was it. The party was over. This time, that level was exceeded 3 months in a row and in January, price reached 235% above that moving average.
