Base metals are having another good day today. After dropping 25% in 3 months copper has rebounded nicely and might have further to go. Chris Temple and I discuss what is behind this rebound and if it is sustainable. We also compare copper to gold as gold is giving up all of its gains from the week.

Even though Brett Kavanaugh is still in the middle of a firestorm thanks to Christine Blasey Ford‘s allegations against him,
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is apparently quite confident allegations will not stop the judge Kavanaugh’s rise to the Supreme Court.
Speaking at the Values Voter Summit on Friday, McConnell gave praise to President Donald Trump and Republicans for the impact they have had on the federal judiciary. As McConnell spoke about the last few days of political fighting over the current Supreme Court battle, he declared in no uncertain terms that “in the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the United States Supreme Court.”
“Don’t get rattled by all of this we’re going to plow right through it and do our job,” McConnell said. “Here’s our challenge for the future: to do our jobs, wait out the obstruction, confirm more quality nominees to the judiciary, we’re going to keep on doing, we are not going to get rattled by this.”

Matthew, my local store has a sale this week of a Ruger LCP .380 combined with a Heritage Rough Rider .22LR single action 6-shooter for $299. Hard to say no. Have you owned either of those? Thanks.
I do not have experience with either of those but that looks like a good deal to me. You might be able to match that price by buying them individually but the effort it would take to do so, much less beat the price, makes your deal deal look pretty good.
If that Heritage is the one I’m thinking of, I do not like the dumb safety it comes with.
Yes, the Rough Rider does have a safety, but Hickock 45 likes it so he can tote it with all 6 rounds and not worry about dropping it. He also likes the little Ruger .LCP .380 so I think I’ll buy them tomorrow.
It looks like the miners will finally move up after the Fed meeting next week…

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. and Canadian negotiators are working around the clock on a deal to keep Canada in a North American trade bloc ahead of a Sept. 30 U.S. deadline.
“Our officials are in pretty much constant contact,” Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland told reporters after meetings Thursday with her counterpart, U.S. Trade Rep. Robert Lighthizer. “It would not be an exaggeration to say they are working 24/7.”
Freeland is returning to Canada for a summit of women foreign ministers Friday but said she and Lighthizer remain in close contact by phone and email.
Canada was left out when the United States and Mexico reached an agreement last month to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement. Freeland is trying to get the No. 2 U.S. trade partner reinstated.
The countries are under pressure to reach a deal by the end of the month, when Lighthizer must make public a copy of the full text of the agreement with Mexico. Until then, he has time to bring Canada back into the regional trading bloc.
