Weekend Show – Darrell Fletcher & Josef Schachter – Commodities 2025 Recap and 2026 Outlook: Silver Mania, Metal Rotation & an Oil Rebound

Cory
January 3, 2026

The first KE Report Weekend Show of 2026 sets the stage for a year that could look very different across commodities and energy markets. The show explores how precious metals captured investor attention after a volatile end to 2025, why sentiment toward hard assets appears to be shifting, and what that could mean as the new year unfolds. The conversation then pivots to oil and natural gas, examining how a weak commodity tape contrasted with resilient equity performance and why select opportunities may be emerging beneath the surface. Overall, the show focuses on big-picture trends, market psychology, and how investors might think about positioning for 2026 amid ongoing volatility and changing fundamentals.

  • Segment 1 & 2 – Darrell Fletcher, Managing Director of Commodities at Bannockburn Capital Markets, joins the KE Report Weekend Show to break down the explosive 2025 performance in metals – led by gold then silver – discussing fundamentals versus momentum, valuation shifts toward hard assets, index rebalancing volatility, and what these historic moves could mean for commodities heading into 2026.

  • Segment 3 & 4 – Josef Schachter, founder and editor of the Schachter Energy Report and author of the Eye on Energy report, wraps up the show recapping a difficult 2025 for oil while highlighting how selective stock picking still produced strong gains. He outlines a bullish 2026 outlook, covering oil and natural gas price expectations, undervalued Canadian energy equities, dividend and growth opportunities, and the impact of LNG expansion and M&A across the sector.

Am I right in assuming that soon there will be a lot of cheap Venezuelan oil will come to the markets? How long will it take to reignite those former Us oil assets there?

If Trump gets control of Venezuela’s heavy oil to use in America’s refineries he won’t need Canadian crude, with no pipeline outlet to the coast our country will be in dire straits. That will be a monumental disaster for Canada. DT

I think getting some oil type investments might be timely. Exxon and Chevron come to mind as they apparently have their own military force to make their oil discoveries.

Chevron never left VZ. XOM and Conoco used to be there and could return quickly. I feel this will end badly. Bring back the Good Neighbor policy.

They probably need to upgrade everything or rehab. In any event, I think Exxon probably had some concerns that Venezuela would screw with their offshore field near Guayana as It was threatened by Maduro (sp) (not that he could act aggressively without retribution. Be that as it may, Venezuela supposedly has the 2nd largest oil pool in the World and the US probably isn’t self sufficient. I guess purchasing stuff you need is an outdated concept. (I wonder how much petroleum it takes to physically steal oil).

Chevron bought Hess to join XOM in those huge offshore Guiana oilfields which Maduro was claiming for VZ. Don’t mess with Chevron and Exxon who are now based in Houston.

There is a big gold deposit in Venezuela that was proven up by a CDN junior explorer about 15 years ago, it holds more than 11 million ounces of high grade gold. The Socialist’s under Hugo Chavez denied them the necessary permits to develop this resource and eventually kicked them out of Venezuela. It might see the light of day with a change in government. You’re probably talking about Crystallex. The ticker was KRY on the TSX. That should’ve been a warning to all buyers.

Yes Matthew, it was Crystallex. It was a funeral play. I had a look at it but never bought in, a lot of investors lost big on Crystallex. The writing was on the wall for all to see. DT

I really do have a particular affinity for silver though, because it was my ‘gateway’ into investing in the broader commodity complex. Whenever the opportunity arises, I do try and give a hat tip to silver, silver miners, and silver investors… and overall they are a really wild ””cast of characters!”’

The Mayo clinic has released an official medical term for spending too much screen time on a “smart” phone, oblivious to immediate surroundings: “Popcorn brain.”

Or, some years ago: “I don’t have to think, my smart phone tells me what to do.”

That “Asia Guy” is pure bullshit which is probably why it’s popular. The herd loves nonsense.

Agree. Is there any explanation for IPT result today? Can’t find any news.

            Jan 05, 2026 05:06 PM

I’d say it’s strictly technical reasons. It finally hit its July intraday high of .45 today and did so after becoming short term overbought and after tangling with its upper daily Bollinger Band for more than a week. More importantly, it has finished each of the last 6 weeks higher and closed last week at the August 2021 and January 2022 weekly closes which became important resistance when they were taken out in April 2022. The last time it went up 6 weeks straight was in early 2024 and that run marked an important top. I see little chance of an important top now and it may very well finish its 7th week higher.

          >> Yeah, thanks for supporting the humans here at the KE Report. 🙂

Yeah, I’ve got big concerns about that “Asian A.I. Guy” aka “Jon AG”

If you saw in the article where I included that tweet from Chris Marcus again, and based on what he said I and many believe it is that Jim Lewis douchebag from WallStreet Silver, that was kicked off so many other platforms for lying about his marketing efforts to companies and buying fake “clicks” and “likes” on YouTube and social media, while taking options from companies like candy.

This Asian Guy A.I. channels all suddenly have tons of followers and likes and comments out of nowhere which sounds just like his M.O.

Also the verbiage talking about “Reddit Apes” or the “2021 Silver Squeeze” and obsession with JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley sounds exactly like Jim’s talking points, where no legit analyst would give a crap about most of that.

Also he apparently threatened a lot of people after he blew up his reputation, which tracks with the comments Chris made when calling him out in the that tweet.

I just did a quick search on him using AI on Google and here is what it returned back:

            ________________________________________________________________

Overview of Jim Lewis and WallStreetSilver
Jim Lewis, also known as @WallStreetSilv, has been associated with various controversies, including allegations of scams and unethical behavior within the WallStreetSilver community. He gained notoriety for claiming to be a trader and for his involvement in promoting silver investments.

            Allegations Against Jim Lewis

            Ponzi Scheme History

Lewis operated one of the largest Ponzi schemes in U.S. history, collecting approximately $311 million from investors over 20 years.

He promised high returns through his company, Financial Advisory Consultants, but instead financed a lavish lifestyle.

The scheme collapsed when investors became suspicious, leading to his arrest in 2004 and a 30-year prison sentence, which was later commuted.

            * WallStreetSilver Controversies

Lewis has been accused of manipulating the WallStreetSilver community for personal gain.
He reportedly engaged in tactics to silence critics and control the narrative within the community.
Allegations include using bots to inflate social media presence and pushing paid promotions for junior mining companies.

            Current Status

Lewis remains a controversial figure in the investment community, with ongoing discussions about his past actions and their implications for the WallStreetSilver movement. His history raises concerns about trust and transparency in online investment communities.

            Jan 05, 2026 05:38 PM

I think its pretty obvious why he would be using a fake A.I. avatar now… and doesn’t want to show his face.

            Jan 05, 2026 05:16 PM

I already found myself turning off the AI I could identify. I only want credible humans to listen to and kereport has humans and knowledge and credibility. It makes a difference where we get info in this world of spin, fabrication and mental illness for personal gain. The one thing that doesn’t matter to a criminal is the law … the one thing that stops a criminal is the law. Maybe for our protection and our futures and our childrens’ future we should demand the law is followed. If that sounds too troubling, find the local freedom store and turn yours in.Not sure there is a way to get it back.

Thanks OOTB. It’s not 100% confirmed that the 2 are 1 in the same, but it sure seems like a high likelihood to me, and I heard through the grapevine that Chris at Arcadia does believe it is Jim.

Gold is only up $115.60 US today, that’s $159 CDN. Just you wait and Gold will climb $200 US in a day, and $275 CDN. Peanuts, compared to the worthless fiat currencies being hyperinflated. DT 🤣🤣🤣
