Jerry…did you get the PPP files? Do you know how often they update them?
I found a file that has the NAICS codes and descriptions. The PPP file only has the codes. What the codes are for is the type of business which is often not obvious at all from the name of the business or just the code. You need the description and that sheds a lot more light on where the money is going.
Also, found a zip code file that contains the county names so I’m going to put all that in a database so I can have all the 661,000 plus loans and create spreadsheets by county instead of having to use multiple city names or zip codes.

Jerry…the file I used was “PPP Data 150k plus.csv” It is in a zip archive and has a date stamp of Jul 2. I downloaded the archive again just now and the “PPP Data 150k plus.csv” file has the same size and date stamp and the same check-sum since I last downloaded the archive. So it has NOT changed. Do you know how often they update the data? I have no idea. Maybe that info is available somewhere.

I got the loan file imported into the database. Now I can make a spreadsheet by county instead of having to enter a bunch of cities/towns or zip codes. (County was not in the SBA file.) Also, I can include the NAICS description in the spreadsheets I make since I have an NAICS table in the database.
So I got all 661218 loans $150,000 and over in the DB. I believe WAPO’s Web site only has the loans of $1 million and over.
If anyone wants a spreadsheet for their county (or counties), let me know.
