Cory
February 3, 2024

Welcome to the KE Report Weekend Show! This weekend’s show is focused on resource stocks and how to build a better portfolio. We feature a well known analyst and fund manger to help us better analyze individual companies, avoid management red flags and isolate the commodities they think have the best potential this year.

Be sure to go back through the week to listen markets commentary through Daily Editorials and Company Updates. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel, by clicking here, or our Podcast by searching “The KE Report”.

  • Segment 1 and 2 – Joe Mazumdar, Editor of Exploration Insights kicks off the show with a recap of the main themes he noted at the recent Vancouver resource investment conferences. This ties into specific metals that are being talking about and Joe’s thoughts on copper and uranium. Joe shares some details on a new portfolio comparison tool he is working on to help investors compare projects and companies.
  • Segment 3 and 4 – Matt Geiger, Managing Partner at MJG Capital joins us to discuss management red flags for resource companies. He outlines 25 obscure red flags in the recent investor letter available on the MJG Capital website. We also ask Matt about his strategy this year for the fund and what metal is a true contrarian play.

      Congress Must Unleash LNG Exports

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers announced that the House would soon vote on a measure to overturn the LNG pause, while a group of Republican senators introduced legislation to eliminate DOE’s power to block natural exports altogether.

At stake is a burgeoning industry with domestic and international significance, both economically and geopolitically. The recent growth in LNG exports from the United States should not be taken for granted.

Where is the next government you can depose, war you can instigate, pipeline you can blow up, in order to increase your market share?

Matt Geiger’s 25 Red Flags was a really useful document (Checklists are wonderful things) . I actually went through the list with my 4 Explorers (they all passed), then applied it to another Explorer I am considering investing in: This will take a bit of time, as the list requires that you do some really deep research.

Matt’s 25 Red Flags is a great checklist when considering investing in a new company (it forces an investor to do requisite Due Dilligence) and revisiting the companies already owned. This might be a great time to review your “Personal ETF” and perhaps get too a point where you can finally relax a bit, as the long-awaited bull market unfolds.

I always learn something when I listen to a KER segment with Matt. He is a wonderful recurring guest.

Hi BrianE — Thanks for that feedback on Matt Geiger’s list of 25 red flags in application on the stocks in your portfolio, and agrees he is absolutely a wonderful recurring guest, and we value his insights a great deal.

‘Gold beans’ go viral among Chinese youth

        DotDotNews

“Chinese younger generations have recently developed an appetite for yellow metal: gold products. Unlike previous generations who craved golden items in a larger size, such as bullion, these young consumers particularly endorse ‘gold beans’ (gold products that have a small weight or size). The relatively affordable price has attracted young people wanting to cash in on these small pieces of gold, with many finding it acceptable to spare a couple of hundred Yuan from their salary to buy one gold bean per month.”

Younger generations enjoy discussing their experiences of saving gold on social media platforms to inspire one another. There are blogs about saving for “gold beans” across the Internet, such as “the best ways to buy gold” and “how to get your first bottle of gold beans.”

According to Stats Canada the average costs per month for owning a car in Canada all costs in is $1644, or $365 per week. That should keep the serfs thinking twice about bringing the tractors and trucks out on the highway. If you miss one or two payments, you soon start to sink into the debt morass if you aren’t already there. An average two-bedroom apartment here is $2700 per month and going up.

Joe six pack will have to keep swimming all the time forget about treading water. I can’t see the economic picture being rosy it might be south of the border, but I doubt that. You also know that statistics are always skewed to paint a much brighter picture than exists. DT

Interesting stat from Stat Canada. Can you post the actual Stat Canada the monthly 1644 car cost you refer to.
      Tks

Cory, my posts are being censored in the political section once again. Can you make this stop???

      Feb 04, 2024 04:16 PM

Hi Ebolan. Just a heads up: I noticed a few of your posts had been held in the moderation cue this evening and released them for you, so you should see those in the political section now.

Not sure why it’s happening, but maybe it was from editing a post that contains a link or possibly the website where the link was pointing. The Askimet bot just grabs certain posts and puts them in moderation for one reason or another.

      Feb 05, 2024 05:11 PM

Hey Ebolan, sorry your last comment was filtered. The only thing I can see if that your comments came from a different IP address. Our system filters all new IP addresses so it should be good to go now 🙂
